VRP: You'd better get this done immediately! And don't mess up! Green: Our team leader has set the goal for this group to complete this effort in two weeks rather than the four weeks spent on the previous project.
"You'd better," invites a VRP reaction from the hearer of the statement. Telling someone what "not" to do, and the labeling "mess up" both are Persecutor judgments. A team can be supported with the factual Observation, "Our team leader has set the goal for this group . . . " Also, being specific on a time frame for the effort contrasted with a previous time frame gives the receivers of the message a clear picture of one of the operational boundaries.

A leader speaking "in the Green" may follow up with something such as, "Please tell me what you think I might do to support you with your efforts."
